About
The Italian Wine Scholar certification is a comprehensive program divided into two parts: Unit 1 covering Northern Italy and Unit 2 encompassing Central & Southern Italy. Students gain a deep understanding of regions, grapes, and history. Taught by a world-class wine educator, Master of Wine Candidate, and Certified Sommelier in English, each Unit comprises six 3.5-hour sessions with guided tasting of over 36 high-quality Italian wines. Final exams are given in person after each unit at the Zürich Wine Academy. Students who pass the Unit 1 and Unit 2 exams will receive the Italian Wine Scholar lapel pin and digital certificate and earn the right to the IWS post-nominal on the professional signature. The program is designed for serious wine enthusiasts, wine trade professionals, and those pursuing Court of Master Sommeliers qualifications or WSET Level 3 & 4 Awards in Wine. Additional self-study is required to succeed in the Italian Wine Scholar certification program. Space is limited to 12 students. All our classes are streamed live and recorded via Zoom for the maximum flexibility of our students. With 24 hours advance notice, we can bottle the wines tasted in class in sterilized 50ml samples for students to taste while watching the recording or live stream.
